The Knowledge of the Holy: The Attributes of God: Their Meaning in the Christian Life
By A. W. Tozer
see related

wow, hi xanga world. it's been a while. so, luke and i are in the big az. he likes his new job. things are going pretty much okay. God is good. my mom just had surgery feb. 8th. she's recovering well. i'm glad i am able to be here to help her out at home and such, since she can't lift things. the house we're renting is pretty cool. except this week the main drain line leaked all over our kitchen floor. that's right kids, raw sewage was on the floor. it didn't stink, it was clear water and most of the leaking happened after we took showers. but that toilet water gets out of the house through the same black pipe that the rest of the waste water does.....sick

if you know anything about me and germs you'd probably say i'm a freak.

needless to say i wanted to invent some sort of jet pack to put bleach water in and fly around my house spraying everything. but i just lysoled and bleach mopped everything. luke got home from work and said in a loud voice, "it smells like a frickin' swimming pool in here!" so unlike him....mission accomplished anyway.

oh, and a scorpion was found in our walls. dead, but still. people say they've lived here for 30 years and have never seen one. of course there'd be one in my house. at least it wasn't a tarantula or rattlesnake or black widow spider...also native to az. yikes.......

the house has an extra bedroom and bathroom for guests....hint, hint. i miss everyone, so come visit, y'all if you have the means. i know it's far, but a girl can dream, right? anyone from indiana or ohio, it would be great to see you. i'm not working right now, which is nice. we could par-tay.

i miss the midwest. i'm developing something like california radar. you can tell if a person is from there by their valley accents. like, oh ma gah. it kinda makes you want to throw punches. and they say i have an accent..psh..

we think we found a church we would like to call our own. it's called "lifequest". all the churches out here have crazy names like "the rock eternal" and "lifequest" and such. either that or they're mormon. millions of mormon churches are in our area and they all have the same floor plan/building as bethel in indiana except smaller. it's freaky and cult-ish. we haven't had the pleasure of having some of those types at the door yet. i shall look forward to it.

our pastor is right on with all his teaching so far. he quotes spurgeon and c.s. lewis, which is awesome in my book. and he talked about getting excited about the word and the holiness of God. he recommended the book the knowledge of the holy: the attributes of God by Tozer. he said that every page in it will make you want to stop and praise God for who He is and what He does. so, i picked it up at berean christian stores, which, incidentally, sells menorahs and yamacahs??? anyway, i'm excited about the book. i just started it.

well, this is really long, so peace, love and soultrain.

Heaven Breaks

It always starts like this,
A harmless and simple thing to fix.
Contagious and spreading quick…
Like cracks in ice,
Wholly claiming our lives
While we sleep.

We’ll pray for Heaven’s floor to break,
Pour the brightest white on blackest space,
Come bleeding gloriously through
The clouds and the blue.
Forcing one place from two,
Killing formulaic views,
Only love proves to be the truth.

When heaven meets the earth,
We will have no use for numbers
To measure who are and what we’re worth.

When Heaven meets the earth,
We will have no need for mirrors
To tell us who to be
And where we fit into this awkward point of view.

When angels meet the earth, may our bodies be light.
When angels meet the earth, may our heavy hearts untie.
When angels meet the earth, may our bodies be light.
May our bodies be light for you.

this gorgeous song is by sleeping at last. there album keep no score has a lot of hope in it. this particular song is about being entangled in sin and being eager for the time that it won't happen any more and we won't have to live on in human nature and unrealistic expectations. check out the album and read the lyrics if you fancy encouragement.

life is blessed for me right now. luke is still looking for a job, and it's hard without each other. some days it's easier than others. just hanging in there.  i can't complain. i'm fed, clothed and have shelter. and love.  i hope everyone is doing ok. if you have any prayer requests, i'd love to pray for you. write me on here or email me: piersoncheryl@yahoo.com

love, love, love.....

i'm not emo...just a little down

life is kinda crazy right now. i miss the 219 and i never thought i would...i guess i should say i miss my husband and my friends. i don't really miss northwest indiana. it's good to see my family and help my mom. she has to get more surgery in october and another in november..so that sucks. i miss people my age and hearing about new music and fellowship and preaching. i haven't had a chance to really go to church since she's been so sick. we are going this sunday, though. i'm psyched about that. i'm trying to see if there's a scene out here...it seems to exsist, but it's california-ized.

few things make me really smile as of late. the Word is one of the only ones. and my parents..and my mewithoutYou shirt with the orange tree that i wear everyday. it says "i'm so small i can barely be seen- how can this great love be inside of me?" that band is so encouraging. and so is aaron weiss, the lead singer. he went around picking up trash at cornerstone at night, but i knew it was him..it made me want to be a servant to all. that pbly sounds lame..but it made  a difference to me.

i'm sad that my friends from ohio are coming to indiana and i won't be there. that's a travesty.

i miss you all................

i neglect my xanga

since i haven't posted on this for eighty years (or since june 10th) i thought i maybe should. so, for those of you that didn't know, i did go to cornerstone, and it was fabulous. i saw mewithoutYou twice. and i was always told i didn't like them (i.e. i'm married and tend to not make my own decisions about music anymore) poo on that, i found so many cool bands. like showbread and flatfoot 56, and anathallo. other than that, it was an everyone-and- their-mom-is-in-a-hardcore-band-fest...anyway, i had fun and it was cool to hang out with jenna sorci for a week..holler!

currently, i'm in arizona. i've been here since august 13th. i came to take care of my mother. she had major oral surgery on the 15th of august. she is just now getting better. she had to have all her teeth pulled and a bone graft taken out of her hip. the surgeon proceeded to pack the harvested bone into her gums and sinuses because the bone was so deteriorated because of her multiple sclerosis. so, needless to say, she was in a lot of pain, and it was 24 hour care, which my sister and i did in shifts for 2 solid weeks. thanks for the prayers, those that remembered.

since my mom is better, i had the chance to see my bff, tess. i spent the night last night and i am currently at her college in the computer lab waiting for her class to end. i don't miss college. that's for sure. seeing everyone walk around like zombies and trying to get papers done and then talk about how they have work later is not appealing. hardest time of my life EVER. i'm proud of tess, though. she's a good girl.

i'm listening to sigur ros....ahhh...sigh....

anyway, leave me some love!!
